Remembrance Day has taken place on 11 November every year since 1919. As the clock strikes the eleventh hour, two minutes of silence is observed at the Cenotaph, war memorials and homes around the country. A nation pauses in quiet reflection, remembering the fallen from past wars and the sacrifices that go on. It is a poignant tribute to those who gave so much, the injured rebuilding their lives, and the servicemen and women stationed around the world on active duty today.
Endorsed by Imperial War Museum this vivid colour-printed Alderney £5 coin pays tribute to those who keep us safe and those we will never forget. Accompanied by ex-serviceman Anthony Devanny’s heartfelt poem We Who Remain and featuring Glyn Davies’ deeply personal design inspired by the transformation of Flanders Fields, it serves to remind us of the brevity and preciousness of life. Struck in sterling silver and finished to Proof standard, this breathtaking coin is a lasting way to observe Remembrance.
