This RAF Centenary Presentation Pack commemorates the 100th anniversary of the Royal Air Force and pays tribute not only to the significant part it has played in British military history but also to its ongoing role of protecting the country and its interests, providing humanitarian assistance and saving lives. It also highlights the bravery and heroism of its personnel and the innovation and technological advancement that has helped make the RAF the envy of the world.
The fully-illustrated presentation pack contains all six special stamps and the Miniature Sheet dedicated to the Red Arrows and includes an overview of the RAF’s history from its inception in 1918 to the present, including its key contribution during the Second World War, its activities during the Cold War, and its present role in defending the UK and providing humanitarian aid after natural disasters. There is also a brief overview of each of the aircraft featured on the stamps, including key statistics about their maximum speed, rate of climb and service ceiling. It also includes a feature on the highly prestigious Royal Air Force Aerobatic Team, popularly known as the Red Arrows, including its pilots and planes as well as images from some of the 800 displays the team has performed worldwide since its formation in 1965. The pack carries an authentic Ministry of Defence security hologram and the official RAF100 logo.
