The Royal Border Bridge provided the last link in a continuous railway line between London and Edinburgh. It does not cross the border between England and Scotland as its name might suggest, but spans the River Tweed between Berwick-upon-Tweed and Tweedmouth in Northumberland. Before its construction the journey between the stations at Berwick and Tweedmouth was made by a horse-drawn coach. Originally scheduled for completion in July 1849, it was not ready for traffic until March 1850. The bridge was officially opened by Queen Victoria and Prince Albert on 29 August 1850 and permission was granted for it to be named the Royal Border Bridge.

This Royal Border Bridge Stamp Cover BC520A features five of the ten stamps from the official release with a stunning backdrop image of the bridge itself. Postmarked with a Berwick Upon Tweed stamp dated 5th March 2015 the five stamps on this cover are: High Level Bridge (River Tyne), Royal Border Bridge (River Tweed), High Transporter Bridge (River Tees), Humber Bridge (River Humber) and Peace Bridge (River Foyle).
