Queen, one of the UK’s greatest and best-known music legends are the subject of this special postage stamp issue. Originally formed in 1970, though the line-up was not completed until a year later, the band have over three decades worth of hits to their name. This Queen Coin Cover is just part of the range that celebrates one of the most popular and influential rock bands of all time on the 50th anniversary of their formation.
The stunning Queen Coin Cover celebrates Queen’s legendary live performances. It includes the Miniature Sheet comprising four stamps showing each band member on stage as well as one containing a group photo. The minisheet has been cancelled with a postmark using gold ink, with Truro being selected as the location in recognition of the fact that Queen’s first gig was held in 1970 at Truro City Hall. The £5 Brilliant Uncirculated coin specially struck by The Royal Mint depicts the various instruments played by the band members including a piano on which the keys played in the first three bars of Bohemian Rhapsody are shaded.
