The Windsor Castle Presentation Pack describes how this historic building has changed over hundreds of years and changes made during restoration work after the 1992 fire that ravaged the castle. Included alongside the six Special Stamps and the Miniature Sheet is an information card that also details the rich history of St Georges Chapel.
Windsor Castle was built in the 11th century after the Norman Invasion. It is the longest occupied palace in Europe and has been used by reigning monarchs since the time of Henry I at the turn of the 11th/12th century. Within the Castle walls is St George’s Chapel, the home of the Order of the Garter and the scene of various weddings over the years including the marriage of Prince Edwards and Sophie Rhys Jones in 1999.
This Presentation Pack was written by John Martin Robinson, author of “Windsor Castle: The Official Illustrated History” and features photographs of the Castle’s elegant rooms and world famous exterior profiles.
